Many times the prices at these local search engines will be much lower, as they’ll be able to find more options and deals for the destination which they’re specialized.
And while these local sites may already show lower prices, you may still be able to get it cheaper. The prices shown for foreigners sometimes can be more expensive than the ones shown to locals.
For example, if you are traveling from the US to Argentina, and after your stay in Buenos Aires you want to go to Bariloche, in the Patagonia, you will get cheaper fares if you book the Buenos Aires – Bariloche leg from Argentina. Unfortunately if you’d really have to be in Argentina to get that fare, as your computer’s location can be tracked by your IP address…
Of course not always we have that option, but perhaps you know a person that resides in that country that could buy it for you or can wait until you arrive at your first destination and get your air tickets there.
